Common questions

Which devices can record both cameras?

The current version requires iOS 18 or later and a physical device that supports the selected front-and-rear camera combination. LuPai checks support on the device. Having two cameras does not by itself guarantee simultaneous recording, and not every resolution or frame rate is available with every pair.

If LuPai reports an unsupported device, that device cannot use the current dual-camera mode. The development simulator preview is a demo and does not create videos.

Where are my videos? Why are there two files?

Open the Files app → Browse → On My iPhone → 路拍 → Recordings. Each recording has its own folder:

Recordings / <recording folder> /
front.mov — front camera
rear.mov — rear camera
manifest.json — recording information

The two videos are intentional: you can edit each perspective independently. Moving, resizing or swapping the preview windows does not change which file belongs to each camera. The current version does not create an additional combined video.

If a recording ends with an error, one file may be incomplete or missing. Check the completion message and both videos before deleting anything.

How do I allow camera and microphone access?

On first use, tap Continue and allow camera and microphone access. If you previously declined, open iOS Settings → Apps → 路拍 and enable the relevant permission. You can also find permissions under Settings → Privacy & Security.

If access is restricted by Screen Time or device management, check those restrictions or contact the device administrator. Returning to LuPai refreshes its permission status.

Can I record without allowing access to Photos?

Yes. Copying to the system photo library is optional and off by default. Before recording, open the camera tools and enable “录制后复制到系统相册” if you want completed videos copied to Photos. LuPai requests add-only access.

If copying fails, the app keeps local source files. Check Photos permission and available storage, then re-enable copying for future recordings. Enabling permission does not automatically copy earlier recordings.

Why does LuPai ask for microphone permission?

Microphone access records your voice and ambient sound into the two videos. The current workflow requires this permission to start recording. It is not a request to play audio.

Why does the screen stay upright when I turn my phone?

LuPai’s interface is intentionally locked to upright portrait, including recording, settings and permissions. Turning the phone sideways or upside down does not rotate the interface. The current mode uses the portrait interface orientation for capture.

What should I do if recording stops or saving fails?

Read the on-screen message, keep existing files and inspect both outputs in Files. Check free storage, allow the device to cool if it is hot, and keep LuPai in the foreground while recording. Start a new take only after the camera is ready.

Recording can stop when the app goes into the background, the camera or microphone is interrupted, or resources become unavailable. Automatic resume after an audio interruption is not currently supported. Interrupted files are retained for inspection; successful recovery is not guaranteed. Back up any playable videos before uninstalling the app.

Does the app have pause, a media library or horizontal-and-vertical recording?

The current development version focuses on separate front-and-rear recording. Pause/resume, an in-app grouped media library, one-camera horizontal-and-vertical output and dual-rear-camera modes are not currently available. Use the Files app to access local recordings.

Before you email

Tell us your device model, iOS and app versions, the steps you took and the exact error message. If possible, note whether it happens every time and which video is affected.

Remove personal information from screenshots. Original recordings and full diagnostic logs are usually unnecessary for a first report; we will explain what is needed for your issue.
